- In the province of Urubamba, district of Aguas Calientes and about 100 kilometers from the city of Cusco.

- 2,430 masl. (The city of Cusco is at 3,399 meters above sea level).

- Humid tropical. Maximum of 25ºC. Minimum of 8ºC. Heavy rains in January, February and marzo.
Flora and fauna
- The orchids, cock-of-the-rock, spectacled bear, Andean deer and mariposas.
How to get?
- Most arrive by train from Cusco (4 hours). It is also possible with the route alternative by Hydroelectric (8 or 9 hours) or with the famous Inca Trail (4 days of caminata).

- In Aguas Calientes there are 5, 4, 3 star hotels as well as lodgings for ‘mochileros’.
How to get guide?
- At the gate of Machu Picchu there are guides available (cost from 4 dollars per visitor).
When to go?
