Currently, the Peruvian authorities have arranged five types of entrance tickets to Machu Picchu: the ‘Machupicchu Only’ ticket, the ‘Machupicchu with Huayna Picchu’ ticket, the ‘Machupicchu with Mountain ‘, the ‘Machupicchu with Huchuy Picchu’ and the ticket ‘Machupicchu with Inca Bridge’ . All these tickets allow the tour of the Inca archaeological site as well as the classic postcard photos with the wonder of the world in the background. Some allow additional adventures to the surrounding mountains.

The ticket ‘Machupicchu Only’

  • This ticket is the most used by tourists.
  • Allows you to make the circuit through the archaeological site. It also allows you to take the classic postcard photos from the ‘Guardian’s House’ sector.
  • The circuit allows you to appreciate constructions such as: the House of the Guardian, the Temple of the Sun, the Sacred Square, the Temple of the 3 Windows, the Intihuatana, the Sacred Rock, the Temple of the Condor, the Water Fountains and the Mirrors of Water.
  • The entrance has an availability of approximately 3 thousand people per day.
  • The ticket offers up to 9 available times. All schedules allow a maximum of 4 hours from the time of admission.
  • The ticket offers the option of taking a short hiking route to the Intipunku (the Gate of the Sun), in the highest part of the Inca city. It also allows you to take a short walk to the Inca Bridge, on the edge of the citadel.

The ticket ‘Machupicchu with Huayna Picchu’

  • This ticket is the most requested by tourists who want to add a dose of adventure to the visit to Machu Picchu.
  • Allows you to make the circuit through the archaeological site of Machu Picchu. It also allows you to hike to the top of the Huayna Picchu mountain.
  • The circuit of this ticket allows you to appreciate constructions such as: the Sacred Rock, the Temple of the Condor, the Temple of the Sun, the Water Fountains, the Water Mirrors and the Temple of the 3 Windows.
  • The entrance has an availability of 200 people per day. These people enter divided into 4 different schedules. From the moment of entry, visitors can stay a maximum of 6 hours.
  • This ticket allows the option to take the trek to the Temple of the Moon, also called the Great Cavern. This walk takes approximately 2 additional hours.
  • The entrance to the Huayna Picchu mountain is allowed to people over 12 years old.

  • The Huchuy Picchu is located on a small slope of the Huayna Picchu mountain. The walk there takes approximately 1 hour.
  • The ticket is allowed to people of all ages.

  • This ticket is available for 400 tourists per day.
  • The ticket offers up to 8 available schedules, which allow a maximum of 4 hours from the time of entry.
  • The hike to the Inca Bridge only takes about 30 minutes (1 hour each way).

  • 1) What is the most recommended ticket to Machu Picchu?

    Most tourists make their visit with the ‘Machupicchu Only’ ticket. If you are looking to add adventure to your visit, you can choose the ‘Machupicchu with Huayna Picchu’ ticket.

    Most tourists choose to visit Machu Picchu in the morning (from 6 am).     No, currently the tickets to Machu Picchu do not allow you to visit the Manuel Chávez Ballón site museum. To visit the museum you must buy a different ticket for an additional cost.

    Yes, the Machu Picchu mountain remains open throughout the year.

  • 9) What entrance allows to enter the Intipunku?

    Currently the visit to Intipunku is not included in any of the 5 types of tickets to Machu Picchu.
