How is the flora and fauna in the mountains?
The Machu Picchu mountain has a flora and fauna where it is possible to observe different species of birds, flowers, insects, butterflies and even mammals.
Among the most important flower species, orchids and their more than three hundred varieties stand out.
The most representative bird species are: the royal churrete (cinclodes aricomae), the giant hummingbird (patagona gigas) and the cock-of-the-rock ( rupicola peruviana). The latter is recognized as the national bird of Peru.
Furthermore, with a bit of luck you can see the llama (lama glama), the vizcacha (lagidium viscacia) and the spectacled bear (tremarctos ornatus).
