Information about the tour to Machu Picchu
The tour to Machu Picchu lasts approximately 16 hours, starting at 5:00 a.m. and ending at 8:30 p.m., departing from and returning to Cusco. The itinerary begins with hotel pickup and continues with a minivan ride to Ollantaytambo, a train ride to Aguas Calientes, and a bus ride to the Inca citadel. Entrance fees and transportation are included throughout the tour.
Pick-up
- At approximately 5:00 a.m., we will pick you up at your hotel located in the historic center of Cusco (an area where 99% of tourist accommodations are located).
Transfer to train station
- The transfer from Cusco to the train station in Ollantaytambo is via a spacious bus (Peru Rail’s bimodal service). The trip takes approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes.
Train trip
- From Ollantaytambo station, board the Expedition train bound for Aguas Calientes. It’s a comfortable train with panoramic windows. The journey takes almost two hours.
Final bus trip
- In Aguas Calientes, take an eco-friendly bus from Consettur. The trip to the entrance of Machu Picchu takes about 30 minutes.
