All with gigantic stone walls on top of a mountain and a special travel experience. Machu Picchu is truly a feat of architecture and human ingenuity. For this reason, every year it is visited by millions of tourists, and it is because of the massive influx that changes were introduced in the circuits and tickets to the Wonder of the Modern World. Next, we want to talk about the tickets that allow you to make a simple tour inside the Inca citadel.

Why are there different types of tickets to Machu Picchu?

Currently, there are different entrance tickets to Machu Picchu. This important change and ticket redistribution guaranteed the order of the people who decided to enter the venue. Thanks to this redistribution, people’s capacity can be measured in schedules and circuits, as we will see later. All people wishing to visit the Wonder of the World must be aware of all the details specified when making their reservation. Having a not-so-crowded visit is important because it will allow all the people who manage to generate a reservation to visit the archaeological site correctly and without altering it.

The main changes regarding entrance fees to Machu Picchu are:

  • The high season to enter Machu Picchu has been made official.
  • The high season starts on June 1st and lasts until October 15th.
  • During the high season you can find more tickets. Making a total of 10 tickets.
  • The regular season begins October 16 through May 31.
  • Now there are 10 new entrances in the high season.
  • You can also find 3 big circuits that sectorize all Machu Picchu.
  • The tours with long walks are only valid for people over 18 years old.
  • Admission hours have been increased, the last admission time starts at 15:00 hours.

The Machu Picchu entrance hours have also suffered some modifications that are not yet clear. Therefore, it is recommended to see the specifications of waiting time and other restrictions in the respective tickets. Another important detail to keep in mind is that the routes of the entrances have established routes. Therefore, you cannot make unjustified setbacks due to force majeure or stay longer than the established time at the entrance to Machu Picchu.

About the three new Machu Picchu Circuits

Since mid 2024, changes were made regarding the entrances and circuits of Machu Picchu. One of the most surprising changes is that 3 Circuits were enabled that contain almost all the attractions of Machu Picchu. So now, in the new circuits you can find destinations such as Inti Punku and the Temple of the Moon. Therefore, the new circuits or routes are:

• Circuit 1 or Panoramic Routes.

• Circuit 2 or Classic Route.

• Circuit 3 or Royal Route.

4 entrances to enter Machu Picchu in a simple way

Machu Picchu was recognized as one of the 7 wonders of the modern world. Since then, visits have increased considerably. As time went by, circuits and entrances were created to allow an adequate displacement of the thousands of tourists who manage to enter daily. Thus, again in 2024, some reforms were made. The main changes were in the entrances and circuits.

Now you can find 3 circuits and each of these has different entrances and therefore experiences at the time of the visit. That is why in an effort to better explain the new entrances, we found that 4 of them may coincide in terms of simplicity and proximity to the Inca citadel. This is because the rest of the entrances are on trails beyond the core of the citadel of Machu Picchu.

The 4 tickets that we are grouping together and which we will talk about later, have a lot in common. For example, they coincide with the schedules enabled, the prices and also that all of them can be purchased throughout the year. The 4 tickets that allow a simple and close tour of Machu Picchu are:

  • Entrance Classic Photo of Machu Picchu.
  • Entrance Classic Circuit of Machu Picchu.
  • Entrance to Machu Picchu Classic Circuit (lower terrace).
  • Entrance Machu Picchu Temples lower part.
